Rainbow Rights

Rainbow Rights is a self-advocacy group of LGBTQIA+ people with intellectual disability. This campaign is a bystander activation piece, built by and with Rainbow Rights members rather than made about them from the outside.

Archer Studio was engaged to design and produce a community safety campaign encouraging everyday bystanders to step up for LGBTQIA+ people with intellectual disability in public spaces, working in a positive lens throughout rather than a list of what the world gets wrong.

The Message

A message set by the people living it.

“LGBTQIA+ people with intellectual disability have a right to be safe in public. Accept us for who we are and listen to what we want.” The tone was set directly by the co-design group: strong, bold, calm, direct, up front, outspoken, feeling.

What We Made

Six deliverables, one campaign.

Six social video clips for online, four longer website video clips and five campaign social posts. Every video is edited and captioned, accessibility friendly throughout.

How We Worked
Single camera, full-body framing throughout
Names on screen, set against a plain background
Captions on every video, from first frame to last
Rainbow Rights branding opens every video
Minimal cuts and considered sound design, nothing jarring or fast-paced
Participant Testimonials

“Working with Archer was really wonderful. They are professional and offer a high quality of work, whilst also being very approachable.”

Mags, Rainbow Rights

“Their approach to filming was really inclusive and accessible for people with intellectual disabilities, and the great videos of members feeling comfortable to share their experiences are proof of that!”

Michael, Rainbow Rights
